Comfortable closed shoes, a hat, sunscreen, and water are essential — the plateau has very little shade. From roughly November to February bring a light jacket for the morning; the rest of the year, sun protection matters more than warmth.
Cairo, Giza, Alexandria and Fayoum are all well-established tourist routes with a visible tourism police presence at major sites. As with any destination, we recommend checking your government's latest travel advisory before you go, and we're happy to answer specific safety questions over WhatsApp.
